Animal Care & Welfare Committee

 

Committee Charge

 

The constituency of the AAVMC Animal Care Committee is the schools, colleges, and departments engaged in the education of veterinarians and in veterinary research. The AAVMC Animal Care Committee addresses the needs of its constituent organizations, namely animal welfare issues that are faced at the institutions of higher education that affect the education of veterinarians and veterinary research. Thus, the charge to the Animal Care Committee is:

 

  • To develop position statements on animal welfare issues when requested by the Board of Directors or member institutions
  • To develop training materials on animal welfare issues that can be utilized by member institutions in the training and education of students, staff and faculty member institution in the training and education of students, staff and faculty
  • To serve as a resource of information on animal welfare issues for member institutions
  • To serve as a liaison to professional organizations and government agencies concerned with animal welfare issues.
