AAVMC Policy
Resolution of the Task Force on Accreditation

The AAVMC president shall recommend to the Chair of the AVMA Council on Education that there be a minimum of two professional educators on each accreditation site visit team. A professional educator shall be understood to be a person who has experience in post secondary teaching and course, curriculum and program development, as a veterinary academician or non-veterinary education specialist. In addition, the professional educator would be expected to have experience in the assessment of instruction, course content, curriculum and program outcomes.

The AAVMC president shall request, through the AVMA-AAVMC Joint Committee, that an AAVMC representative be included on the selection committee for a Director of the Division of Education and Research, when the selection of a new Director becomes necessary.

In consideration for the acceptance of these requests, the U.S. colleges and schools of veterinary medicine agree to pay $10,000 to AVMA for each full site visit.
