The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) is seeking nominations for the 2012 Merial-AAVMC Excellence in Research Award, to recognize outstanding research and scholarly achievements in the field of veterinary medicine. The award, which comes with a $1,000 honorarium, honors those who demonstrate excellence in original research, leadership in the scientific community, and mentoring of trainees and colleagues in any discipline of veterinary medicine.

The AAVMC values the partnership with Merial and is very grateful for Merial’s leadership in promoting research careers. Merial is a world-leading animal health company that provides a comprehensive range of products to enhance the health, well-being, and performance of a wide range of animals, including pharmaceutical products and vaccines for livestock, pets, and wildlife.

The award will be presented at the Merial-NIH National Veterinary Scholars Symposium, August 2-5, at Colorado State University, where the recipient will make a presentation.

The deadline for receiving nominations for the 2012 award is June 22, 2012.
