The AAVMC Board of Directors consists of the president, president-elect, past-president, secretary, treasurer, and four at-large members elected to represent U.S. and Canadian veterinary medical colleges, U.S. departments of veterinary science and comparative medicine.
The Board is elected by the Assembly, which is comprised of one representative from each member institution. The institutional representative is the dean, department chair, animal medical center head, or his or her designee. Each institution receives one vote, although all employees of member institutions are welcome to participate in meetings as observers.
The Board of Directors meets face to face at the Annual Meeting and the Summer Meeting, and conducts other business through conference calls or through its Executive Committee. Recommendations and annual reports from AAVMC's standing committees and task forces are brought to the Board for consideration.
