The AAVMC is happy to report that the data collection process for the Comparative Data Report will be shifted to an online process this year. This major transition will make it significantly easier for CVMs to transmit data to the AAVMC, reduce common errors in collecting CVM data, and expedite the compilation of all CVM data to produce the report. The AAVMC has hired a contractor that is currently developing this online system. Beta testing for this new system is expected to begin in mid November. At this same point in time, CVMs will receive a sample of the new report, which provides advanced notice of the information that will be collected this year----a few tables have been added to the report, as well as some table modifications and definition revisions. In mid December, the new system is expected to go live, enabling CVMs to submit comparative data to the AAVMC online. Here is the complete timeline for this project and data collection process:
October CVMs Receive Comparative Data Tables
October/November Development of Online Data Collection System
Mid November Beta Testing for New System
Mid December System Launches: CVMs Enter Data Online
Late February AAVMC Transmits Compiled Data to CVMs for Review
Late May
Comparative Data Report Finalized and Distributed

The enhancement to comparative data collection is being guided by the Comparative Data Committee that is chaired by Warwick Bayly (Washington State University). Other committee members include: Susan Hyland (University of Wisconsin), Judith Kleen (The Ohio State University), Jeffrey Klausner (University of Minnesota), Renee Knosby (Iowa State University), Priscilla Roddy (Kansas State University), and Paula Tolbert (University of Georgia).
