The Use of Animals in Veterinary Medical Teaching

The AAVMC has announced a Call for Posters, a Call for Abstracts and a Call for Models and Simulations for the 2006 Educational Symposium.

Call for Posters

  • Accepted posters will be displayed during the Symposium
  • See Symposium themes (below) for topic guidelines

Call for Abstracts

  • Selected presenters will have 5 to 10 minutes to speak
  • Best practices: Methods to minimize consumptive animal use
  • Shelter medicine programs, cadavers, teaching animal colonies

Call for Models and Simulations

  • Demonstrate and display your model
  • Computer-based simulations, animal training alternatives

   

   Symposium Themes

  • Teaching and learning theory
  • Animal welfare and ethical considerations
  • Alternatives to the use of live animal
    • Models and simulations
  • Best practices
    • Refining the use of live animals
  • Compliance and regulatory issues
  • Organizational change
  • Building relationships with the animal protection community

  Please Note: Deadlines

  • Early Submissions are encouraged
  • The deadline for all submissions is February 3, 2006
