Treasurer
Dr. Lorin D. Warnick serves as the Austin O. Hooey Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University, a position he has held since 2016 after his role as interim dean in 2015. He also serves as professor of ambulatory and production medicine. Previously, Warnick served as associate dean for veterinary education and director of the Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA).
He joined the Cornell faculty in 1996 and had responsibilities in clinical service and teaching in the Ambulatory and Production Medicine Service as well as research in the epidemiology of zoonotic infectious diseases and the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. He is a diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. He has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles on topics ranging from antimicrobial resistance in bacterial infections of dairy cattle to risk factors for COVID-19.
Under his leadership, the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine has seen a significant increase in research funding from the National Institutes of Health, United States Department of Agriculture and other external sources. He has also overseen the launch of the Center for Veterinary Business and Entrepreneurship, the Cornell Wildlife Health Center, the college’s Small Animal Community Practice, the Cornell Richard Riney Canine Health Center, the Duffield Institute for Animal Behavior, and the Department of Public and Ecosystem Health.
Warnick dramatically expanded the college’s activities to support diversity, equity and inclusion and well-being through establishing new leadership positions, launching the Deans Leaders Program and other initiatives in these areas. He also led partnerships with local health organizations to support Cornell University’s nationally recognized pandemic response efforts.
Warnick received his D.V.M. degree from Colorado State University and his Ph.D. with an emphasis on epidemiology and statistics from Cornell University.
