Universiteit Utrecht

In 1821 a state veterinary school was founded in Utrecht. In 1918, the school became an institution of higher learning. In 1925 it was incorporated into the State University of Utrecht (founded in 1636) The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Utrecht is the first and only Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the Netherlands.

The six-year veterinary training program is organized in a Bachelor and Master program, leading to the DVM degree.
Admission is limited to 225 students, resulting in a student body of 1,500 students.

FVM is AVMA/CVMA accredited since 1973 and is also accredited by the European Association of Establishments of Veterinary Education and the Dutch and Flemish Accreditation Organization.
