Liaison Representing SAVMA (non-voting)
Ms. Emily Verwers is a second-year veterinary student at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She is currently serving as the Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA) Junior Delegate for UIUC and the AAVMC Student Liaison for the Educational and Professional Development Committee within SAVMA. In October 2022, Emily will transition to SAVMA Senior Delegate. At UIUC, Emily has become very involved, serving on the iVLE Planning Committee, the 2023 SAVMA Symposium Planning Committee, and the Wellness Committee.
Emily received her Bachelor’s in Animal Sciences with a Concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and minor in Wildlife Science from Purdue University in 2021. She has an interest in soft tissue surgery and large animal medicine, though she is also exploring other specialties within veterinary medicine. Emily loves teaching and is passionate about working with younger students. When not in school or studying, she loves to spend time with her friends and family, walk her golden retriever (Harley), read books, and try new recipes.
