The Academic Veterinary Wellbeing Professionals (AVWP) community supports individuals advancing wellbeing efforts across academic veterinary institutions. It provides a space for individuals leading, coordinating, or supporting wellbeing initiatives within their colleges to connect, exchange ideas, and share resources.
Mission
To support the interconnected wellbeing needs of academic veterinary communities by promoting a culture of wellbeing as an institutional and health profession priority.
Goals
- Serve as a resource for individuals engaged in wellbeing-related work at academic veterinary institutions
- Facilitate connection and peer support
- Share professional development opportunities relevant to wellbeing in academic settings
- Disseminate helpful materials such as research articles, guidebooks, and wellbeing-related tools and websites
Members of AVWP are committed to advancing ethical, evidence-informed approaches to promoting wellbeing within veterinary colleges. AAVMC takes a systemic view of wellbeing, recognizing that this work is shared across roles and not limited to licensed mental health professionals. Participants may include, but are not limited to, licensed counselors, veterinary social workers, wellbeing coordinators, assistant deans for student success, faculty engaged in wellbeing research, and clinical faculty involved in hospital-based wellbeing initiatives.
