AAVMC Seeks Nominations for 2027 Awards

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 14, 2026) — AAVMC is accepting nominations for its 2027 awards program, which recognizes outstanding achievement in veterinary medical education, research, and service. Educators, researchers, and leaders at AAVMC Institutional Member institutions worldwide are encouraged to submit nominations by October 14, 2026.

Five awards are open for nominations:

AAVMC Excellence in Research Award
Recognizes outstanding research and scholarly achievement in veterinary medicine, honoring original research, leadership in the scientific community, and exceptional mentoring of trainees and colleagues across any discipline of veterinary medicine.

AAVMC Distinguished Veterinary Educator Award: Emerging Leader
Presented by Zoetis
Recognizes an educator with at least five years of teaching experience who has demonstrated exceptional promise through innovative teaching, educational scholarship, and leadership.

AAVMC Distinguished Veterinary Educator Award: Career Achievement
Presented by Zoetis
Recognizes a seasoned educator whose sustained contributions have made a lasting impact on veterinary education.

Iverson Bell Award
Honors outstanding leadership in and contributions to promoting diversity in veterinary medical education.

Billy E. Hooper Award for Distinguished Service
Recognizes an individual whose leadership and vision have made a significant contribution to academic veterinary medicine and the veterinary profession.

Award recipients will be honored at Catalyze 2027, AAVMC’s annual conference, in Washington, D.C., April 15‒17.
