Jonathan Levine

Jonathan Levine, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology), serves as Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Prior to his appointment at UW–Madison, Levine developed his career at Texas A&M University. There, he served as Department Head of Small Animal Clinical Sciences from 2015 to 2024, and as Interim Small Animal Hospital Director from 2019 to 2021, steering the hospital through the COVID-19 pandemic. As a faculty member, he built the college’s Neurology Service and established a translational research program centered on naturally occurring neurological diseases in animals, frequently collaborating with veterinarians, physicians and scientists across institutions.

Levine is a past President of the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians and past Secretary of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Neurology Specialty. He currently serves as the AAVMC’s liaison to the American Board of Veterinary Specialties and the Veterinary Specialty Organizations Committee and chairs the AAVMC Advocacy Committee.

Levine earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Cornell University. He completed a residency in neurology/neurosurgery at the University of Missouri and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology).
