Marty Kacsh is a second year veterinary student at the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Originally from Evergreen, Colorado, he developed a passion for animals at a young age through horseback riding and later became deeply involved in 4-H and FFA, showing horses, pigs, sheep, and poultry. He went on to gain extensive hands-on experience through volunteering with horse rescues, a therapeutic riding center, and rehabilitating his own rescue horse over several years.
At Texas A&M, Kacsh is actively involved in student leadership and advocacy. He represents his fellow students as the Senior delegate for the Student American Veterinary Medical Association, as well as serving as president of the Internal Medicine Club and other leadership positions in the Texas A&M AAEP chapter. Through these positions, he is committed to strengthening communication between veterinary students and national organizations, advocating for student needs, and fostering collaboration across institutions.
Kacsh’s professional interests lie in large animal internal medicine, with a strong interest in research and leadership within the veterinary profession. He is currently involved in research exploring hemoperfusion as treatment options for sepsis, and previously worked on mitochondrial dysfunction and inflammation as biomarkers for exercise-induced fatigue in thoroughbred racehorses. He hopes to continue combining clinical practice, research, and organized veterinary medicine to advance both animal health and student engagement.
