Chief Operating Officer Dorothy (Dotty) Gray joined AAVMC in 2012. Prior to coming to AAVMC, she managed the day-to-day operations at AVMA’s Washington, D.C., office for 17 years. Gray received a bachelor’s degree from Bennett College for Women, in Greensboro, N.C. After graduating from Bennett, she worked as a staff assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives, and later joined a public relations and crisis management firm before turning her attention to the nonprofit sector.

Gray earned an MBA degree from the University of Maryland University College. Her knowledge and experience in politics, public relations, and association and business management have prepared her well for her current position as AAVMC’s Chief Operating Officer.

Gray studied music at the college level and now feeds her inner diva by singing in gospel, jazz, and R&B. She has written and produced several gospel stage plays and hopes to share them on a large scale someday.
