Sizeism in Veterinary Medicine

On this episode of the podcast, Jackie Parr (University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine) and Erin Harrop (University of Denver) discuss how weight stigma and sizeism can come into play during interactions between veterinary providers and pet owners. The current language used to discuss veterinary patients’ body conditions can contribute to the stigma surrounding weight and potentially alienate owners, leading to obstacles in care.
