Leading Students Through the Application Process

AAVMC hosts the Veterinary Medical College Application Service and publishes the Veterinary Medical School Admissions Requirements guide. We also provide support and guidance to applicants as they walk through the application process.

Investigating and Implementing Recruitment Strategies

How can academic veterinary medicine recruit the best and brightest to become the veterinarians of the future? This National Recruitment Promotion Plan suggests some approaches that are both under development and underway.

Providing Information About Careers in Veterinary Medicine
To encourage students to pursue careers in veterinary medicine, AAVMC hosts an annual career fair where interested students can learn more about various types of veterinary practices as well as meet representatives from schools and colleges of veterinary medicine.

This premier veterinary medical career fair provides valuable information for high school and undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing veterinary medical careers. It features information sessions tailored for high school students who are beginning to consider careers in veterinary medicine and for undergraduate students who want information about applying to colleges of veterinary medicine..

Representatives from national and international colleges of veterinary medicine offer advice and answer questions about veterinary medical careers, which can range from companion animal care to military veterinary medicine, shelter practice, or other shortage areas such as food animal veterinary medicine and public health.
