The AAVMC recognizes the role of live animals in the instructional process, yet encourages minimal use and requires humane practices.
Each of AAVMC’s statements undergo periodic review. By coincidence, this particular statement is currently under review, and we are in the process of developing “Guidelines and Considerations for the Use of Animals in Veterinary Education.” In the interim, the prior document had been removed from our website. It is anticipated that the review and approval of the new document will be completed by the end of October. At that time, we would be pleased to share it with you.
