Sheila Allen is Senior Accreditation Advisor for the AAVMC. Allen works in cooperation with the Director of Education and Research of the AVMA to provide administrative support for the Council on Education, the accrediting agency for veterinary medical education. Allen served on the Council on Education from 2007-2013.
Prior to assuming this role, Sheila served at the College of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Georgia as dean from 2005-2016, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 1997-2005, and as a faculty member in small animal general surgery from 1986-1997. Allen earned her BA and DVM degrees from Cornell University. She completed her small animal surgical residency and MS in Clinical Pathology at the University of Georgia. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
