The Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) is an Advisory Committee to the AAVMC Board of Directors and the Assembly. The AAC supports AAVMC Strategic Goal Four: Advance teaching and learning to prepare students, faculty, and academic staff for professional success in a wide variety of careers.
Charge
- The AAC provides a forum for the academic program leaders of veterinary colleges to discuss issues of common concern.
- The AAC addresses all aspects of veterinary medical education and student affairs. By sharing resources and consulting experts, the leaders work together to strengthen their educational programs.
Composition
The Academic Affairs Committee consists of the Associate and Assistant Deans for Academic Affairs from each AAVMC member and affiliate institution.
Leadership committee members of the AAVMC Academic Affairs Committee serve for three years, in sequential annual terms as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Past Chair. Terms commence and end at the close of the AAVMC Annual Conference. Candidates for the Chair-Elect position are nominated through an annual call for volunteers announced in AAVMC Connect and the AAVMC Academic Affairs Forum videoconference. The leadership committee selects the Chair-Elect from among the nominations. In the case of a vacancy in any leadership position, the remaining leadership team members should appoint a replacement.
