Other Veterinary Organizations

AAVMC works closely with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and other veterinary medical organizations, including the American Society of Veterinary Medical Association ExecutivesStudent American Veterinary Medical Association, the U.S. Animal Health Association, the Morris Animal Foundation, and organizations representing specialty fields of veterinary medical practice.

Animal Health Industry

AAVMC works with several corporate partners in the private sector, including but not limited to the Animal Agriculture Coalition, which represents the major animal and animal-related commodity organizations in America, and the Animal Health Institute, which represents companies with an interest in animal health.

Health Professions

AAVMC works with all of the allied health professions to support funding for training programs, especially those targeted to increasing the racial diversity of graduates. AAVMC is a member of the Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition and the Federation of Associations of Schools of the Health Professions (FASHP), which includes the Association of Schools of Public Health, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the American Dental Education Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges and others. AAVMC was an important partner in establishing the One Health Commission, and also works closely with several agencies and departments of the federal government focused on human, animal, and environmental health (listed below).

Animal Welfare

AAVMC works with national, public and private sector animal care and welfare organizations to promote animal care and welfare. They include but are not limited to the Animal Welfare Division of the AVMA, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Division of the USDA, the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare in the Office of Extramural Research (National Institutes of Health), the American Humane Association and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Education and Research

AAVMC partners with several organizations and institutions devoted to promoting and strengthening education and research. These include, but are not limited to, the National Institutes of Health, the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU), the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care InternationalNational Association for Biomedical Research, the National Coalition for Food and Agricultural Research, the Howard Hughes Medical InstituteResearch!America and Boehringer Ingelheim, through the Boehringer Ingelheim Veterinary Scholars program.
