Stacey Ma, a DVM student in the Evans Lab at the Baker Institute for Animal Health, was accepted into the Morris Animal Foundation’s prestigious Veterinary Student Scholar program this past summer. Ma, who has been part of the Baker community October of 2023, joined 22 other students from across the globe in this year’s cohort.
A new study, published Jan. 23 in the Journal of Bacteriology, elucidates how Legionella – as well as Coxiella burnetii (C. burnetii), which causes Q fever – persist in the environment and in the body, identifying a key enzyme that could be used as a target for treatment.
