Washington, D.C. – The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) announced today that it has awarded the AAVMC Senator John Melcher, DVM Leadership in Public Policy Award to Lawrence E. Heider, DVM, DACVPM. The award is being presented March 12, 2010, at AAVMC's Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Adams of the Purdue University School of Veterinary has been chosen by the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) to receive the 2009 Pfizer National Teaching Award, the most prestigious teaching award in veterinary medicine in the United States. The award will be presented at the AAVMC annual meeting in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

Lowrie, MS, Director of the Women’s Resource Center and Assistant to the Dean in the Michigan State University (MSU) College of Veterinary Medicine, has been chosen by the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) to deliver the 2010 Recognition Lecture. The Recognition Lecture will be presented at the AAVMC annual meeting in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, March 14, 2010.
